I often get asked – what is a Celebrant?
A celebrant is someone who conducts a ceremony, just like a priest or vicar but as a celebrant I cannot perform the legal side to your marriage – yet – watch this space!
My job as your celebrant is to officiate your ceremony on one of the greatest days of your life.
How do we make our wedding legal?
Easy – a trip to the Registry office a few days prior to the ceremony – my daughter went the day before, just her and her husband to be with their two best friends who were the witnesses – their wedding day was the day of the wedding ceremony – and what a day that was!
Are you qualified?
Absolutely, I am a member of The UK Society of Celebrants which was where I gained my professional knowledge.
How does it work?
It all starts with a coffee and an informal chat, I really try to meet you in person so that we can establish if I am the Celebrant for you – I haven’t met anyone yet who has said no!
This is how I get to know you and what style of Ceremony you want, I then go away and write a draft ceremony, incorporating everything you want to include, with the draft, I send you my Little Pink Book which has lots of ideas and styles just to give you a helping hand and from there we just keep in touch until we are both happy with the end result. I’m always available whether it’s by Skype, email or the good old fashioned telephone.
If you are having a rehearsal I will be there too and on the day, I arrive about an hour before the ceremony is due to start, meet the guest and settle them ready for you both the arrive.
What do I get for my fee?
The fee isn’t just about the ceremony – my fee includes the initial meeting, all correspondence for the ceremony writing, the Ceremony itself and after I present you with a beautiful bound copy of the Ceremony and a basic certificate.
Is the Ceromony Religious?
No, I’m not religious myself which was one of the things which attracted me to become a Celebrant and along with the fact that a Celebrant led ceremony can be performed at any location you choose, from an enchanted woodland, a vintage farm or even your own back garden, it really does open up the world of ceremonies so we can get really creative and personal – have a look at my Vintage Wedding Page for a bit of an outdoor wedding idea.
How much does a cost?
As all of my ceremonies are unique, all costs are different depending on what elements you wish to incorporate and how far I need to travel but here are the basic fees:
Weddings - £350
Vow Renewal - £300
Baby Naming Ceremonies - £300
I really don’t know what I want?
It’s ok, I’m more than happy to have a chat and answer any questions you may have.
